Over 300 int’l artists manifest Iran's calligraphy worldwide: Official

Secretary-General of Iranian National Commission for UNESCO Hojatollah Ayyoubi has stated that the attention of more than 300 international artists to Persian calligraphy makes Iran and Iranian artists more significant.

Speaking to Iranian news agencies on the sideline of the opening ceremony of the International Silk Road Calligraphy Exhibition called ‘Dance of Pen’, Hojatollah Ayyoubi broke the news that the intangible heritage of calligraphy would be soon registered as the world's heritage in the name of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Sometimes Iranian art has fans in neighboring countries and has a historical background in those countries, and therefore, some Iranian arts have been jointly registered in the world,” Ayyoubi noted.

Hel also stressed that Iran's tangible and intangible heritage should be a factor for lasting ties between Iran and neighboring countries, although the right and share of Iranian heritage will be seriously defended.

With the aim to display the quotes of prominent figures, messengers of goodness and friendship and to eliminate the thought of war in human mind, the 1st International Exhibition and Conference of the Silk Road Calligraphy was inaugurated on Wednesday by the UNESCO Cultural Center and the Municipality of Mashhad at the Khorasan Museum and will last until January 28, 2021.

More than 230 works from about 30 countries, including Iran, China, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iraq, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Kuwait, Russia, Turkey, France, Spain, the Netherlands, and Poland will put their works on display at the event.

Each night, artists from various countries will perform their works live at a virtual art gallery, as well as holding live conferences on art.
